Would assume sufficient bandwidth and a router with QoS is required similar to my Skype home phone. What bandwidth do you have (up/down mb)and what type of router do you use?
Its Voice Over IP so it needs about 1mb up/outbound dedicated "clean" bandwidth. Get that, should be fine. Main problem I've seen with VOIP is congestion/poor router QoS.
What I've done is eliminated the Linksys router and connected the cable to it's RCA modem then directly to my computer.
It's made no difference. MJ will start-up normally and I will get a phone connection for about a minute then it disconnects with a pop up saying "MJ has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I'm at a lose what to try next.
I think I will take the MJ device and try on my neighbours computer.
I just got back from trying it in my neighbours computer (plugs into the USB port) and the MJ device works fine. So the problem is my computer (Toshiba laptop) and/or my internet connection.
Do you use it "a lot"? I know when my dad had the service, after he activated it, we were reading through the "terms" - and somewhere in their they basically say they can throttle/block/disable your calls as they see fit, i.e.: if they think you're using "too much" data, or using the service "excessively" - though back 2 years ago when he used it, we talked for about 2 hours before we got disconnected.....then I just called him back
Edit: 6 hours later, seen theres more posts Soo....it is the MJ "software" that is crashing......that's one of the things I disliked about the service....being locked in to their PoS (QoS....? Get it? loL) software......looks like something I could have coded back in my middle school VisualBasic class
Now I don't use it a lot.
As I mentioned I tried the devise on my neighbours computer and it works fine. So the problem is likely my computer and I'm too computer iliterate to figure it out.
