If you plan on keeping this vehicle till it croaks go with Mobil1. The oustanding cleanliness is enough to use this oil. My vehicles are beat on like you would not believe and this oil keeps the engine clean. I look into the oil fill of my Taco and it looks like the day I picked it up with a half a mile on it. I only wish my 4-Runner had m1 from the start. Its had a steady diet of it from 63000 miles.

You can't go wrong with Mobil 1 at 6 month/6000 mile intervals while your warranty is intact.

Oh,I add 5 quarts of 5w30 and the rest is made up of 15w50 in the Taco. The sump is about 5.6 quarts. I will try 10w30 instead of the 5w30 since my interval ends February 28th and will take me through till October.

Daily Drives:
-2003 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner,2.7 liter, 4 cylinder, Mobil1 5w30 ODO 13850
-1995 Toyota 4-Runner,3.0 liter,6 cylinder, Mobil1 10w30 ODO 94200

At the end of the day, both M1 and Synpower will do the job fine. Either one will help your engine outlive the rest of the chasis. Toyota engines are awesome. I wouldn't worry about it too much and just go with the oil that is cheaper or easier to find.

I think VeeDub is right. So which is more available in Southern Cali?

at places other than Walmart please

Probably most all the major brands can be found at Auto Zone, Kragen etc. How do you like your Toyo? I have a 92 and I really like mine And a good friend has a 93 and is really nice . The other day I went to pick up some parts to do a valve adjust and there was a line at parts so I went to look at the trucks ,wow!!! what an improvement.

I actually don't have the truck yet. It is on factory order and should be here in April or May at latest. No one in the region had one close to what I wanted.

Compared to test driving the last body style, they are totally two different trucks. The older one was a lot smaller and had more of a truck feel. The new one is a lot taller with a smoother ride. My knee doesn't lay against the door on the bigger new truck

. I think the new one is well improved.

You will enjoy the truck when you get it! I don't know how you can wait that long. The anticipation would kill me.

I lucked out when I got mine since it was right before the war started in Iraq. The dealerships were begging for customers. It was in early January.

back to oil, What is the availability of getting Synpower vs. Mobil1 on the West Coast particularly in LA? I plan on moving there.

In San Diego County, both are very plentiful. Manny, Moe, and Jack now personally assure me that they will even start carrying 0W-40 Euroformula.

Because of coke/sludge, VW502.00 synth oils, most of which are 5W-40, are now mandatory for turbocharged VW engines. No synth ... no sludge warranty!
