I just bought a 04 Saab 9-5 Wagon with 75k and not much service history. Most the guys on the Saab forums and dealers use engine flush every change and Mobil One 0w30. I have not been able3 to find a flush compatible with Turbo engines local. The oil was pretty dirty (dino w/ 3k and 7 mo. )so I didn't want to use flush in it. So I went to local NAPA and low and behold they just started carrying a end cap of Lubro Moly Products. I grabbed a $7.00 Can of Lubro Moly Pro-Line Engine Flush. I heard a guy say that O'Reily's had Gallon Castrol GTX for $10. So a quick oil change with the GTX, New cheap filter and LM, idled 10 minutes then a fresh 5w30 Valvoline Syn Power and a WIX filter. I was shocked at how dirty the clean GTX was. It looked worse than my normal waste oil. I'm glad I gave this flush a good medium to remove carbon. Might have been overkill but my peace of mind is worth the $13.00 bucks.

I would do another short 1,000-2,000 mile OCI after that flush. There is always a bit of solvent or material left behind after a flush and it will continue to work through the next OCI.

Good to know it worked well. Keep us informed as to how it performs over the next few months.

Interesting post. Not many people here use flushes as they believe they are too harsh on engines.

I would prefer using something like this for 10 minutes rather than adding something like MMO and running it for the entire OCI.

I think I would have run a short OCI after the flush with the GTX, then switched over to the Synpower.

I cannot belive that it's only $7. Here in Canada I paid almost $20 for it. [censored]. My next trip south and I'll buy 3 for price of 1.

Ok, I think the short OCI is a good call. I'll post back oil condition next month when I should have 1200 miles on it. I'll move to M1 0w40 then.
Thanks Guys
