I'm in the process of looking for a newer daily car. The e30's clutch is wearing thin my patience and my GF's partially injured knee (skiing accident years ago)

Anyway, I'm looking for a list of all of the auto trans vehicles that use this brand of auto tranny, as they are far more reliable than ANY other manufacturer (I'm sure many old 7 series would be on the road if they supplied BMW with their auto trannies as well).

I know they supplied Volvo and Toyota for decades, but I really dont' wanna over-priced Volvo, and most Toyotas are very boring. I dont' care if it's a RWD or FWD (as Aisin builds both) but prefer FWD for economy.

thanks in advance

The AW 55-50/51SN in the 2001 - 2002 Volvo FWD and XC has a reputation for early failure and problems due to valve body failure...lots of complaining about these on the Volvo boards...

That said, with rebuilt valve bodies in my 2 Volvos of that vintage, and regular fluid changes, the two that I've got are working very well at 138,000 and 163,000...

You might want to check out the ford fusions, aside from the 4cyl models i think the rest use the aisin. I know for sure that at least the "Sport" models do.

JEEP CHEROKEE. Not Grans or Wranglers. Uses a AW4. The 4.0 6 is virtually bullet proof also. Thats why its a favorite of rural route postal employees. I've seen MANY with lots of miles and fliud as black as coal oil. Only ONE I can remember torn up.

Friend of mine bought a non-running Cherokee with 240k on it. We got it running and the transmission was perfect.

Looked at the fluid and it had the consistency of motor oil that was run 50k miles. Looked just like it too.

Changed the fluid and it continued to work just fine.

Certain fusions had an aisin transmission. Never heard of any problems.

While Aisin is generally known for quality A/T's the Aisin unit in early Saturn Ions was problematic.
Saturn started using GM's own 4T45E and they had no more A/T issues.

While I'm not the biggest GM fan...most of their A/Ts are bulletproof..

Yeah, have always thought myself that GM made the best automatic over the other big American car makers anyways.

These applications use the 6 speed TF-80
3.0 models use the F21 Aisin FYI

I think they use the Mazda FNR5. You're talking about the 06-09 I4 5 speed automatic right?
