If your are going to buy a gas guzzling truck - you better figure out why you need to put a snowblower in the back of your car or truck. Silly to spend 7 grand more on a suv or LT or buy another snowblower for to where ever site its being delivered. Most trucks are not needed - my wifes Subaru included!

I'd say Fusion, but they aren't "supposed" to tow. Based on your criteria, I'd say a Subie or small 4-banger SUV. You also said something "new". Does that mean not "used"?

You misunderstood my comment. I said I dont understand why I cant tow 1000lb with a sonata that has 200hp and large brakes. the same sonata can tow 3000 in Australia.

while I appreciate your input my snowblower is small.
it fits fine into any hatchback(I can lift it with 1 arm and the handle folds in half... And I have never seriously entertained thoughts of buying a Fullsize SUV/truck.

If I got an "suv" it would be more of the CUV/crossover variety like an equinox, sorrento,or forester not a truck based 20mpg model.

Previously test drives and comments:
mazda3s hatchback= no rear legroom-best manual transmission feel fun to drive.
tuscon- 5mt/2.0L model=hated it,
sportage 6mt/2.4.. liked it.. sporty handling for a box.
sonata 6mt 2.4gdi--like it if I was getting a sedan.. this was the most for the money..

Outback 6mt-- HORRID MT 1st way too tall. 2nd to close to first, pretty notchy shift feel.

Forester X 5mt-- liked this as much as anything else. Didnt like the x features.. I'm going to see what price I can get on an X premium.. if its around 23k.. I'll probably own one soon.

One of the best things about the forester is its available with MT and options.

to get any of the other cars except the mazda with a MT you had to get base model with NO options.

the forester is going to get a second look on friday.

looks like tomorrow I'm getting a 2011 suburu forester X premium 5mt, all weather package/some random options.

I really like the car it fits all my criteria and even more I really liked it.
I can live with the 20~~ city 28 highway.
AWD for the winter with 8.9" ground clearance will be nice for those days they dont plow and i ripped my bumper last year.. pushing snow. 5MT isnt the best ever but it was very driveable after it breaks in for a few thousand I'll prob swap it to a different fluid.

sticker was 25990$ paying 23100.. better than the base equinox.. sticker 23xxx they would only come down 100$ off msrp

IN shiesty news.. my insurance company told me I had 50$ a day for my rental upto 1000$

then the other guys insurance swooped in after I had the car 3 weeks and says I only get 29.99 and so I owe 150$ out of pocket.. as of now... Will the insurance #Q@$%#$ flying poop of death never stop.

I dont even fit in a dam 29.99 rental.. a midsize is 35.99

I called and left 3 people voicemails.. not sure what else to do. Enterprise said they would freeze it till next week to give me some time to fix it.

They have a really good pattern though.. better than my 2007 focus, 2002 ranger or 2009 hyundai Elantra touring projectors.

If looks were my main criteria.. out of what I test drove.. the KIA optima looked the best. The sportage SX looked nice too.

I love the looks of the 2011 Forester. I think it is the nicest looking version of the Forester that Subaru has made. Congratulations on the purchase.

nothing like a panoramic sunroof to make you smile on a nice day.. its like having a convertible
