Samuel Adams has a strong aftertaste I don't like in a beer.
Ales have a strong aftertaste too.
I guess that's why I like Budweiser Select.
It finishes clean.
I knocking one down right now!

you're all white zinfandel drinkers, admit it

Mori, are you sure you are Bavarian? We could almost put you on trial for blasphemy for those comments. [LOL!] Just in fun. Ever here of HCM in Kiel or Albert Frankenthal or Kaspar Walter? Worked with a lot of those guys. Budweiser or Beck's was the order of the day when they were here. Guess we all have different taste buds.

Hear me yodel to a David Hasselhoff song while playing soccer in my lederhosen? I'm about as un-German in my likes and dislikes as any German you've (n)ever met -- unless it's about food and cars. And no, to me, beer is not food.

I have no idea what those "northern lights" in Kiel drink. Beck's is more or like supermarket swill and no upstanding German, or at least no Bavarian, will drink that stuff. We like our small, local breweries, most of which date back to the middle ages. Some of those formerly small breweries have of course ballooned into larger operations like Spaten, Paulaner, and Hacker-Pschorr, which cater worldwide.

Some Germans like Budweiser because for them it's an exotic American beer.

There's been only one love in my life, and I've carried this affair since the tender age of thirteen. It was my first, and thru the years it has proven to be the best:

PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!!!!!!

So you can have your sissy boy imports and phony micro brew college beers, but guys with an unbridled passion for all things unpretentious and real know only three letters, PBR.

Does the opining of one who has gone several years with nary a dribble of alcoholic beverage being slurped down count for anything?

Nope.

But..... however comma......

When I have to perform manual labor under a blazing sun with the humidity level up around 1,563 per-cent at the end of the day an ice cold beer or two sure does taste good!!!! And, the buzz received from those couple brewskis helps me forget the misery gone through that day.

When it is time for the brewed beverage one brand stands above all others, though I have not tasted every beer made by the humans of the planet.....

The beer that, to me, tastes as a "real" beer should taste. A beer that appeals to America's working man.... rough tough hard-working men of the type who apply Liquid Glass to their truck... the kind of man that tamed a continent, repulsed the Nazi hordes, put the kabosh on Tojo's Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere, that turned around and advanced in a different direction at the Frozen Chosin, that fought their way up Hamburger Hill in the Cental Highlands of The Nam.....

the beer that roars akin to a revving Hemi in a '71 Cuda........

Yah' just know it's gotta' be......

Can't be any udder brew.......

(fer cryin' out loud, Bubba, shut up and tell us what it is!!!!!)

It's ..... it's....

PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep

For the biggest bang for the buck, and even tasted alright, do you remember Black Label? (Red cans w black label) We used to get it for $1.69 for a six-pack at Publix in the mid 90's, but it's been gone for years. Miss it.

Fuel tanker man: Glad to see someone else on this thread with some taste!

It's been many years, but I had some in a bar in SC a couple of months back. Does anybody remember how expensive Black Label used to be? This would be early 60's, then in the late sixties early 70's it was like the cheapest of the cheap. I also remember Busch Bavarian being high priced and then it turned into Anheiser Busch's value beer.

Stroh's was mentioned earlier, anybody remember these:

Iron City
Schlitz
Pearl
Country Club malt likker
Camo (I think it's a MIchigan only beer)

I'm a fan of Iron City but you can't get it down here in Richmond. I normally drink Budweiser or Rolling Rock. Another good local beer is Shiner's Bock from the San Antonio area. My favorite is Sam Adams. I like the "hoppy" taste. Just tried Sapporro (japan) beer yesterday. That was pretty good but pricey. I heard on NPR radio that 2 beers a day is actually good for you. Gives me a good excuse!

My list,
Chimay Blue,Chimay Red {Brewed by Trappist Monks},
Duvel {means Devil}
Orval, Westmalle Triple,{Monks again}
Most wheat beers for the summer.
Pilsner Urquell this is the first beer to be brewed in a golden color all beers befor this were dark.

Obbop: didn't see your post till just now!

You are 100% on every statement you made.

"Heinekin? F*** that s***!!! PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!!!"

Cool points to anyone who recognizes that quote.
