Exactly, came from humble roots and worked hard to earn his place at the top. The last of a dying breed of executives. Today it's off to college get your MBA, and they
GIVE you a position at the top.

A true businessman who knew how to make a public-private partnership work for the betterment of shareholders.

I remember that stuff, it was actually OK for a first attempt.

Iacocca was IMO, the man who turned around Chrysler, sure Sergio Marichonne helped keep them alive in the late 2000s. But what Lee did in the 1980s, before I was even born was amazing.

You should read up on it. It's complicated with the US Govt loans etc

Truly an iconic figure in the auto industry. I can't think of anyone who could claim to be his equal. I read his auto-biography back in the early 90's and found it to be very interesting. Still remember as a kid hearing on the news (1972?) of Mr. Ford firing him.

James Brovard wrote some pieces about Iacocca back in the 1980's and 90's. Iacocca was infamous for getting import quotas passed on more reliable Japanese vehicles.

People see what they want to see.

But Iacocca was doing what was best for HIS company, after all that was his job. Not only that it does help US workers keep their jobs in an indirect way.

Trump understands that as well.
