Just bought a commercial excel 275 72in zero turn looking for best oil has 1000 hours. I know sae 30 is the norm i have rotella and mobil 0w40 on hand any reason not to use it? Could i just use 5w30 synthetic?

If you are only using it to mow grass and not plow snow, there are a couple that are good.
Motorcraft Super Duty 15W40
Rotella T5 15W40
Oil burner? 20W50

Normal grade is 30 so of course you can use 5w30 synthetic... it will meet and exceed your longevity expectations...
I was using 10W30 (either Mobil 1 or Super Tech HM). I put Farm & Fleet HDEO 5w40 in my LT150 Kohler this season. I used it in the winter to blow snow and figure it would work good in the summer as well. So far so good...

Which K Series engine? I tend use 15w40 in them with good results. Most of them burn a little oil, the 15w40 will not burn off as quickly as a 5w30 might. You can still run 5w30 and be perfectly fine, just keep an eye on the oil level.
Good move. Most of the commercial guys down here use 15W40 HDEO.
Those are good engines, I'd definitely use a 15w40 HDEO in that like Rotella.
