are ready to do an oil change or maintenance and you do what I just did.
You have been buying things for all your vehicles when the prices are good, sales are
good, AAP codes making them even better. It's like stuff you don't need at the
moment, but you know eventually you will.... so you stock up! I just did oil changes for 3/5 vehicles and
I went to the basement shelves and stood in awe. It's like my own little parts store that only has parts for MY stuff! I see wiper blades, air filters, cabin air filters, LOTS of oil of course, filters x3 for everything, spare bulbs, headlight bulbs, ATF, spark plugs, exterior care products, PS fluid etc. etc. etc........ heck, there is even stuff for the riding mower! I kinda felt like a junior version of a hoarder, but then I thought.... NO.... I have just stocked up on Sale things I would have had to buy anyway and saved a TON of $$$$$. Anyway, it's great to go to your own supply and get what ya need instead of running around town buying what ya need at regular prices the day you do the work. Kinda cool

It is something I've always been tempted to do but just never have.
I guess it could be partially because I don't keep cars long enough to warrant having any spare stuff.

I do have a few jugs of oil though

*** If Ya keep them longer than 3 or 4 years it pays!

Yeah,

I felt good when getting oil jugs out of garage closet for an oil change, thinking about paid only $10 for M1 jugs after rebate does make me feel good. Looking at 20+ quarts Pennzoil Ultra that costs me $2.50/qt does feel good too.

I now have PU 5w30 stock and PureOne filters that hopefully don't outlast my ownership for the vehicle. I bought the pickup to have enough towing ability for potential future hobbies(or cars) and become the third vehicle in a few years when I want to go back to a sporty vehicle.

I did resist the urge to use two BOGO coupons for 8 filters, as I figured 4 is enough and I will be getting bored with them and trying Fram Ultras along the way.

Once I lay out the oil testing plan for the truck, it will simply come down to driving it enough to merit the changes.

I do only a little stocking up. I order from Amsoil enough ATF and gear oil for 2 or so years. Enough M1 filters from Amazon to get free postage.

And some Bobcat filters on EBAY.

I stock up on Wix filters when I can get them on sale. I quit hoarding oil when I started working at a dealership, unless I can get a really good sale. I will be quitting my current dealership in a week and will be going to another one, back to selling cars. At my current dealership, I paid cost plus 10%. My new place of employment offers 30% off retail. Therefore, I will go back to stocking up on oil and filters and doing my own changes. I buy Wix filters at 6 to 12 for each vehicle when they have a sale. Usually under $4 per filter.

LOL! I do stock up on parts necessary to maintain my own fleet + a bit for my clienteles...good thing is: most of them share more or less similarities (e.g. Toy oil filters for all corollas, oil filters for my fit and dad's civic, etc.) so no overstocking occured.

Oil filters: I have over 22 of them on-hand; extra set of belts for 30% of the vehicles, 20 jugs of oil (mostly PYB), brake rotors --2 pairs each for my wifey's camry, my fit (I can always free up my stock for my friend's fit), a pair for dad's civic, etc.) extra brake pads (all ceramics) for mine + my wifey's, headlight and brake bulbs, H-OAT long life coolant for all vehicles (mainly top ups, only enough to do 1 drain-n-fill job), etc.

I do inventory every 4~6mnths, and will stock up when my predictions comes close (stock replenishment)...My parts inventory only experienced about 15% growth over the past 5 yrs...

By doing so I typically save over 30% over regular retail and pass those savings to all of my clienteles and my family.

Well done sir ! I often feel the same way when tackling odd jobs around the house or garage and i have to delve into my garage and i come out with something that will work or exactly what i need.. Again well done !

Now I have 5 filters for my civic. Not much oil on hand though although that could change anytime you know...
