Is this a good idea for my filters?

whats the big deal with having an orange filter

orange looks cool-if Purolator Pure One had not changed their color from electric blue to puke mucous yellow, I'd still be using them. How's that for loyalty?

Well, I started this thread as a joke, but now have my first ever Baldwin filters--nice bright red color, which is even better than orange so nobody thinks it's a Fram.

I could not say for sure whether I have had more leakage from one brand or another. However, you may get a lot of oil from the connection if you change the oil hot. I found with the Aerostar 3.0 that a lot of oil spills all over the starter, but that if I change the oil after the van sits all night and it cold (still has the hot drained down oil in the pan), then very little spills out when I remove the filter. I think what happens is the space where the filter mounds is full of oil and that drains back into the engine over time. Maybe would be fine waiting just an hour, I don't know, but overnight works.

I, myself, have been looking for environmental puke green. It's allegedly the most soothing color to the eyes.

I think HAMP might just have a filter for you. ;-) It's a shade somewhere between seafoam and lime green.

Ahhhh, yellow, orange and red filters give the impression of heat and we all like our oil hot!

Blue filters may be unsettling as they could give the impression of cold, thick oil, or worse yet, watery oil.

Now green is rather neutral, but looks best on a John Deere.

Black is not the best because it gives the impression of dirty oil.
