My employer will get me an iPhone XR for business use. If I want to get a better iPhone like a flavor of iPhone 11 or 12 I have to pay for the phone.

The plan per month is no cost to me.

I will still have a Pixel for my personal phone.

Is the iPhone XR good enough?

if you get to keep the iphone for good i would buy the better one. if not, and you have to pay extra , i would buy the XR. not much difference other than speed and screen on most iphones

If you get to keep it get the better one with lots of memory and put it into an OtterBox. I have sold my like new old phones a few times for surprising $$$

To clarify: Employer will pay for XR. If you want the 11 or 12, then you pay the entire cost? If so, I would get the free XR.

Been using one for about 2 years now. It does what I need it to do. Phone, e-mail, a few apps, fitness tracking with my Garmin Vivoactive3 and a bit of Social Media with the family and friends.

What do you need from a smartphone for work? If you still have your personal phone, why spend extra money for a work phone?

Edited to add, it's my work (and only) phone and the one thing that doesn't seem to work well is tethering. I have a separate MiFi on another carrier, but sometimes I need to use this for tethering due to which carrier has the better signal and speed in a location.

The WiFi tethering seems to be a weak spot for my XR. I know others who have no issues, so maybe it's just my phone. But if tethering is part of your use case, take that into consideration.

IPhone XR is an excellent phone. It will probably do whatever needs to be done: voice call and texting.
It is still fast enough.

My wife still use IPhone 8P and it is one generation behind XR, it is still sufficient for running a business.

then your choice is clear XR only, they are paying for it; hopefully your provider is ATT or Verizon that's what's count these days

XR is good enough. But weird they're still supplying them, they're 2018 model phones. Also weird they won't let you pay the price difference, it's probably a used phone.

I’m typing this on my red XR now. wifi is all that matters while home. My Sprint-now-TMobile signal is as good as my work iPhone 7 using VZW.

My company will likely upgrade us when the 7 isn’t supported any longer. This year??? I’d expect the XR, SE or 12 mini, honestly.

Also, since when is the A12 Bionic a weak link and in need or replacing. It seems as if older and older iPhones are still being supported, which is great!

Finally, while the latest OLED displays on the 12s look great, the LED in the XR still looks amazing to me.

I’m in IT, and my team also does the cell phones for our company (big corporate company) and I don’t think we can even get the 11 anymore.

My 11 is going on it’s 2nd year.... I’m abusive to technology so the battery is down to 86% max capacity, but it still is more than powerful enough. My coworker still has a XR and loves it.

I'm in the same situation, my work provides an iPhone XR. I would pay to upgrade to an Android but not an iPhone 11 or 12!
