I will start by saying I don't have Prime...

I add things to my cart as I think of them or need them and then once I hit the free shipping threshold I will actually order the cart full at the same time.

Lately I added a cabin air filter, engine air filter, LED flashlight and music CD to my cart. Over the course of a few weeks while I was accumulating stuff in the cart, the music CD price never changed but the filter prices went up at least 10%. They were kind enough to alert me to the price increase (but not decreases). So I waited until the filter prices actually got lower than when I had originally added them to my cart. All of this filter price non-sense took 7-10 days. I actually ordered everything on 2/6 with an anticipated arrival of 2/13. The stuff didn't ship until today and now has anticipated arrival of 2/16. All 4 items were showing as in stock when I ordered on 2/6. I realize I don't subscribe to prime but it took them 6 days to 'process' my order for non-special items.

The few bucks I saved on the filters vs O'Reilly is hardly worth it now. The CD could have been bought at China-Mart. I am not going to give them $100 for faster order processing & shipping but I will take my money elsewhere. I have never waited this long for an order on Amazon.

/1st world whining

Long time Prime customer, never any issues and CS is always top notch. Combine the shipping discounts with the Primer Music (was better before their newer music set up) and digital video content and its a solid, if not necessarily impressive, value.

If we didnt have Prime, I'd probably not be ordering much from Amazon either. I hear the non Prime customers are treated like khrap.

Long time member of prime as well. I got like 5 years free or at $29. Only these last 2 years i've paid the full $99.

I used it mainly for school textbooks, 2 days is PREFECT for school.

I still love prime and have been spoiled, the prices are not the same anymore. Parts wise, Rockauto VS amazon, there were cases were amazon was cheaper but not anymore. (this doesn't include tax and shipping). I dont use it for anything other then to watch the Grand Tour.

I've debated on paying another $99 but some of the stuff just saves time. CS has been super other then the cost of return shipping for items.

I get the impression that AMZN is trying to force people into prime by delaying shipments to non-prime customers. At the moment I have no need for prime and won't pay their vig for it. Their non prime customer game playing has me buying less and less from them. I often look for deals from companies selling on AMZN, where I might have to pay shipping, but the tax savings and sometimes lower prices beats AMZN. I found the items from those sellers usually ships faster too. I've been doing more business on Ebay as a result. The Internet made shopping for the best prices very easy, and AMZN's higher prices and game playing is slowly driving me away from them.

I've had Prime for just over two years. Before that it would sometimes take days to a week for them to even ship an in stock item.

At least then, it appeared they were delaying on-prime orders or at least prioritizing prime orders.

Yep, Prime is only "2-day shipping" once the order is processed and shipped. It's not always 2 days from when you hit the purchase button.

Prime member here as well. Be careful of knockoffs. They are trying to get a handle on this but it can be very frustrating to get an item that is not what you ordered. Sure they take it back, but it can be a hassle just to determine the true origin of your products. I've been sent cheap knockoffs which were also dangerous ones. (Electric back massager and Nikon rechargable battery.)

You can get a free 30 day trial of Prime once a year. Have a couple accounts and get one every few months. I finally signed up for Prime when it was $79 a few months back, but split it with a few family members so it's fine.

For me it doesn't matter if Amazon takes 2 weeks to ship what I ordered.

If I needed something that badly I would have purchased at local retail store.

I've got Prime, love it. I order tons of stuff from there rather than going into a store. Often times way cheaper.

Spark plug wires for my Camry were $49.99 at O'Reillys and $26 on Amazon for NGKs.

I had 118 orders on Prime last year, I'd say it paid for itself. My grandparents have me order them things often times, as well as my brother so it wasn't all me.

Got my cabin air filter and air filter for my Sonata today. Just placed an order for a book. Yesterday I got my Husky Liners for my Sonata.

I have been a Prime member for the last 3 years. Love it. But no matter what I order I shop around first to make sure I get the best price. And yep, Amazon prices fluctuate all over the place. I have always found Amazon's customer service to be top notch.

I quit amazon for the same reason as the OP. I know everyone says prime is great and all but I refuse to pay $99 to get a basic level of service that every other online retailer offers for free. The extra long processing is just a shell game to sucker you into prime.

I am not a Prime member and I use to order occasionally from Amazon. Orders were a little slow but not too bad. On one order I accidentally signed up for the Prime 30 day trial. I cancelled after the 30 day trial and things got really bad. It took over two weeks to ship an in stock item and shipping took another 2 weeks. I had one more order like that and I just stopped ordering from Amazon all together. I will only use Amazon if it something I can not get some where else. I have not used them in at least a couple of years. It seems that if you are not a Prime member, Amazon does not want your business.

Some of the stuff they sell says in stock but allow extras days for processing even with prime. It is really random what does that. I have also had their stock not be right.

I have found on Amazon that you have to shop around. It isn't always the best deal. On car parts it is a toss up as weather Amazon or rock auto is cheaper.

I didn't need it badly but waiting 10 days isn't worth saving a few bucks.

I have NEVER waited more than 5-6 days on an Amazon order. Heck, my ATV tires shipped in 3-4 days last year.

My gripe is the bogus times to 'process' and then ship an order.

Amazon is no longer as good as they were, as least to me. Prices are higher. (They had a lower price point to have free shipping. Now it's $49.) My last order is taking forever to process and ship. It was much better before. Will not be doing so many orders w/them in the future. My last couple of orders from Best Buy/Home Depot & Ebay arrived much quicker and their prices were as good or better than Amazon. (And didn't need to be a "Prime" member.) Amazon needs to take notice...

Prime - never a issue yet. Being not to far from a distro center, sometimes packages arrive next day (depends if stocked at distro center I guess).
Received a email some time ago about 2 hour or less delivery for some items. I haven't signed up/tried that one yet, but entering my zip I did qualified for that.
