how many of you are using magnets to monitor wear?

You can read my verified purchase review of the AP-03 on Amazon with pictures.

A portion of the gold tip has chipped off while in service (which hopefully my oil filter caught)

I wish they hadn't done the [censored] gold plating on the magnet.

Interesting. That went all the way through nickel plating and taken out the magnet itself - couldn't have been an accident.

Ive only ever seen a magnet crack when snapping objects against it as a trick. There are actually correct and incorrect ways to store magnets.

Could have been damaged by the time it got to you.

Iron or steel pans are hard to put in an pull out the plug with it banging to the side or wanting to snap to etc pan or snap to etc side upon removal.

If you have an iron or steel pan Id see if you can get your pinky around the lip - if you do good chance its right there stuck as the bigger pieces are magnets themselves.

Sine they are magnetic I doubt they are far - if some how it gets loose - If it makes it through your oil pump and screen - your filter will catch it. - worth a good old fashioned cut and look.

Makes a case for externals like filtermag type device vs internal.
