how is walmart goodyear viva authority?

Ok. Not a trail blazing kind of tire, but just fine for the daily commute...

A few of my neighors have them their cars (or beaters), and they seem to do just fine here....

They may be a decent tire, but I have found walmart tire to be overpriced.

Take a look at the other shops. If you have a Sams or Costco card, check them also.

Walmart was over $100 more for a set of 4 tires on my saturn than the local Mr Tire was, and I got a better tire.

True. But some people would rather pay more than deal with the hassle, I guess..

I wouldn't say that. Some of the standard Walmart Goodyear tires- I assume your referring to the "Viva" are very cost competitive. They are somewhat less competitive nowadays than a few years ago.

Dont forget to factor in the labor of mounting, balancing, and road hazard. That has also gone up in recent years.

The reason I prefer walmart over costco is that if you do any long distance travels, there are plenty more walmarts than costco's. I've actually had a tire that was cut in the sidewall, replaced at walmart while I was on a trip. No hassle, no haggle.

That is a good point too. If I decided to stick with goodyear budget tire (still havr my stock GY), then the Viva 2 might be a good choice.

But, that tire in my size has gone from 60 bucks to 75 in just less than a year.

For two bucks more, I can go next store to sam's club and pick up the X radial....

the authority is a decent tire, don't have very many warranty returns. walmart also price matches, so you can get a tire rack price on a tire from walmart. the add on prices are $5.00 balance,$7.50 lifetime balance/rotate,$10.00 road hazard.

Thank you guys, initially I wanted to replace the two front tires to viva authority because one of them is very slowly leaking. and I went to wally and they didn't find any problems. so the guy did a rim cleaning, he said it might be rim leak. will see how it works after my trip to NYC. Actually my rear tires are viva authority, just wondering if put another pair on the front.

actually I have life balancing and warranty,

so I guess it applies to every stores nation wide? since I am moving from IL to NJ

Do I need to show the receipt for such service?

You don't need receipt at the same store because they have your VIN number on their system, but you need to show them the receipt if you to another store. That what my local WM rep told me.

How do I get them to match Tire rack prices? They tell me that they don't honor internet pricing?

+1

Yes, but good luck getting them to match a goodyear Viva tire.

Most of their tires are custom made for walmart, and are not the same ones that you can get from another shop.

Actually, the Viva line is branching out. Belle Tire just picked up the Viva Touring model...

Why?

I had a couple of Viva 2s a while back on a Camry, and they looked good but were lumpy.

When I need a couple of whitewall tires in my size for the Lincoln, I found that whitewalls aren't as easy to get as they used to be, at least not locally and for cheap. I reluctantly bought 2 more Viva 2s, telling myself if they were lumpy like the first ones I had previously I'd have Wal-Mart rectify the situation one way or the other (as I should have the first time.)

Happily, the Viva 2s on the Lincoln are as smooth as silk at all speeds, though they weren't even close on the balance at the time of initial installation. Second time was the charm.

most of the problems are seperated belts and uneven wear, they have a thin sidewall so they are also easy to puncture aswell.

but keep in mind i'm in a fairly rural area so you have people hitting potholes and railroad tracks at speed with their cars, not caring about bent rims until they notice something wrong.
