How is the 1.5L Dragon EcoBoost long-term reliability?

How are these motors holding up at 200K to 300K miles? Do such examples exist? Are there any known issues with them on newer (or older) models? Google search seemed like a ghost town for any information more recent than early 2022. I've driven an Escape with one and I liked the powerband's character, the engine sound, and fuel economy. I wondered if these engines could be trusted to hold up over time.

I've driven the engine and enjoyed it. I believe the engine has a gear driven oil pump (a good thing) and a timing belt, not a chain. It also does not have slots between the cylinder bores (also a good thing) so the head gasket won't fail like earlier Ecoboost engines.

I am unaware of any disasters with the design.

they updated the block years ago, that was the main culprit. typical boosted engine issue with leaks at some point, how long till that happens is anyone's guess.

I think you talking about the old 1.5L. The 1.5L dragon is a 3 cylinder found in the bronco sport and escape.

I haven't heard of any major problem with them yet. They seem to have good power and fuel economy. So at this point, only time will tell with longer-term reliability.

Yes have to love how years ago the timing belt was poo poo'd on and chains were the rage. I just love regression in automotive engineering and design. Chains were okay with non OHC, when they were nice and short with no guides and tensioners.

A turbo Ford. 100k and the car is done. It will have more rattles than a nursery and more lights on than a Christmas tree and more Leaks than the Valdez.
I like chains and gear drives. I've NEVER had one fail. Saw a 2019 Honda Minivan pop the timing belt at 67k. It cost the young couple a motor.

I can do the math but boy I cant imagine driving as much as you do. Let alone in a small econo box. Kudos!
I did 50k a year for almost 20 years... and I did it on everything from a full size pickup to a motorcycle..
I dont know what the guy who said he did 50k a year is doing, but in my case I kept my job but moved my wife and kids 300 miles away
and I went back and forth on the weekends... 600 mile round trip every weekend and regular driving during the week. did that for 12 years,,

then I found a house closer to the job, it was only 115 miles away... so 230 miles a day, 4 days a week plus whatever other driving I did..did that for about 8 years.

its all highway miles though.. car just runs 4 hours a day.

I'd like a 'Dragon 1.5T' in a Fiesta ST like they have in Europe but Ford won't bring here.
I'm leery of small turbo'd engines in larger vehicles like SUVs but that's just me.
