They're great. I have a geologist's hammer made by estwing. Edit - Mine has the vinyl cast hammer grip rather than the leather grip. great to see it made!

Silly American....our laborers use an entirely different kind of dog

Nice hammers (had one) but how much do they cost?

If you put one together in an office tool box, it would likely be gone (stolen) within a week.

If you are an urbanite wanting to hang your Art Prints, a $30+ hammer is proberbly overkill.

In short, not everybody needs quality tools, sometimes a $3 hammer is good enough.
HOWEVER, if you buy such a hammer don't expect to Frame a house with it!
And don't blame a manufacture (country) for making low quality $3 hammers.

I suspect that those cheap Chinese hammers generate more profit per item, for the retailer than the manufacturer.

Let's just have reasonable expectations for what we buy.

my Estwings are the best claw hammers IMO. I have Bostich hammer I bought in I pinch. I rarely use it I always grab an Estwing first. unless somebody needs to borrow one they can borrow my Estwing wanna be.

I paid around $20 and can sleep well at night knowing that my dollars supported a job in the USA.
