Ok when I bought my last filter for my 2.4 Scion tC, the guy asked me "what kind of motorcycle are you working on?" That and honestly the size bug me. I know the Camry filter for some brands is a different and longer filter, but a lot of filter makers list the same small part for the engine. So my question is what longer filters will fit on my car. I would like at least an inch more of filter. What applications should I search for? The guys at the parts store are not any help. I hate Advance.

Thanks guys

So... you have filter envy? Seriously?

The 14477 (and it's equivalents) is a decent size filter for a four cylinder engine. What exactly is the problem you have besides it not looking like it's big enough to do the job?

I should be able to help you figure this out. Been around tC's alot and own an xB. First of all which brand do you want to run? I know for sure the Mobil 1 and Wix are short for that application and the Purolator is long. I can take some pics and show you a comparison of the two sizes that will work. Should post them up later tonight. The ones I have stockpiled the most are the AA4386 and AA4967. They both work fine, but the 4386 is longer. Pure One would be a good long filter to run.

Shorter Toyota filter:

Purolator 14476
Fram 4967
Champ 2840

Longer Toyota filter (by about .5"):

Purolator 14477
Fram 4386
Champ does not seem to have one

Your Scion already calls for the longer one, but if that isn't long enough for you...

his Scion doesn't exactly call for one or the other, either can be used......

True, but companies that make a longer filter (like Purolator and Fram) spec it on their application lookup. The filters are identical otherwise.

I have been running a wix for it, but I want to get a Bosch next time since I can get the very very cheap at about 4 bucks a piece.
