I got my pair of Filter Magnets installed today.

They will stick on the can regardless of what side is against the can. I didn't try to see if they attract and oppose each other based on orientation with each other because they are too strong to be messing with around each other.
Because both sides of those Amazon N52 magnets strongly attract ferrous objects, that will make installing and removing them a lot more dicey than a magnet that only attracts on one side. Both sides of those N52 magnets will strongly (violently) snap onto anything ferrous. It you accidentally get them to close to any steel or iron parts of your car or other magnets... Pow! With enough force to cause inconvenience at least, injury at worst.

Filtermag SS (for oil filter) is easier and safer to install and remove because they're curved to fit around the oil filter and only the inside of the curve attracts.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware. Once they are separated from the group they come in, they will never be allowed to come close to each other. To get them off the group they come in, I turned one 90 degrees, then slide it off the top. I've already test installed a couple on the Tacoma's filter and was pretty easy to get them on. Easier to slide them off the dome end instead of prying up one end.

Here’s how I put the magnets on our 2013 Buick LaCrosse.
