So check it Im coming up on 40,000 miles and plan to auto-RX my engine again. Im going to switch back to a conventional HDEO for the rinse and clean on both cycles. I need a recomendation for a really really good HDEO conventional oil and help choosing a good synthetic afterwards.

I've always been a fan of Redline but they dont carry that at Advanced anymore and im not special ordering Oil offline or driving 2 hours to the next distributor.

I'd like a group 5 Synthetic oil, thats really good on anti-wear, detergency, and is performance oriented (IE: Holds up well)

So without a analysis can anyone help me determine whats best with what i've told you?

BTW: after the auto-rx whatever Synthetic oil I settle on will be added in with Specialty Formulations SX-UP.

Skip the SX-UP, eat the whole enchileada and get Mola to release that PCMO he is cooking up !

Terry, can you suggest a few good Conventional HDEO oils, and possibly some high-end Synthetics like I was describing?

I ran Mobil1 0w40 @ a 4k OCI in my 02'specv once and had a good UOA. When I used to go to the very immature specv/sentra websites, it seemed like the QR25DE engine is a loser in the longevity department.

I still belong to B15sentra.net. Use RX it solved other QR problems with oil burning.
Mine has never burned.

I dont use synthetic in my specv anymore because it burns about 1.5-2 quarts in 4k miles. My car has always had a header since engine #2 (no pre-cat).

my dad's 03 sentra 1.8 L doesn't burn a drop of oil, but leaked a ton of coolant. after headgasket replacement, not a drop of oil loss.

All I can say is with THAT much cleaning and Redline - YOUR ENGINE MUST BE VERY CLEAN INSIDE!

you know that you are wasting money by running that sunoco fuel right???

The owners manual says to use premium unleaded gas of 91 octane or higher for the specv. Theres also a premium unleaded recommeded sticker on the fuel filler door. The 94 sunoco makes my car run with very good part throttle responce in normal driving over any other fuel, but doesnt give it more power when the car is floored imo, even with using a lessor 89 octane. The funny thing is that the same engine in the altima with the same HP rating doesnt say you have to use premium. ????????
