no. none of those.
I've heard Permatex does a "decent" job, and have seen pics from someone on another forum, but nowhere near this kit's results.

The only other product i used is 3M plastic cleaner and polisher (separate ones).
They cleared them up a bit for a week or so, but it was marginal...the scratches, and the yellow haze never really went a way.
(But who knows? if I had wet sanded first and used them...? they might've given better results..)

i wish I had a bunch of old yellowed headlights to play with so I can experiment on other methods/products, too..

UPDATE:
I just put two coats of Meguire's #26 wax (thanks for the recommendation asiancivicmaniac) on each headlight: it worked great: creamy yellow stuff, kinda scary when it first went on, but it shines and sparkles when buffed away, i'm glad it didn't change the way the headlights were looking, and is very smooth and slippery to the touch. (it wasn't like that before the wax at all) , so I think it will do a good job protecting stuff from sticking and from the UV rays of the sun.
It layers very easily, and so I went ahead and put 2 coats on each.

Hey, for the original poster... the kit that you bought, is it good for only one set of headlights, or can the material be stretched to two sets?

My Mazda really needs this treatment. My daughter complains all the time that she can't see at night, and the headlights are VERY cloudy. At the same time my VW could use a little cosmetic polishing... it's not bad, but I'd like to make it look new.

IMO, only enough for one set of normal set of headlights. I used every last bit of it for my car's set.

you have to use it right away. not resealable, and it is VERY runny, it's a liquid, and not a very think one;
once opened it thickens pretty fast, so you have to work kinda quick with it.

Darn. My dad wants to clear up the original headlight on his van. The right one is only a year old. The left one on the other hand is eight years old and yellow. The newer one creates a bigger contrast and makes the older one look even worse. I was thinking about using this kit, but I don't need to use the whole kit. Maybe I'll try wetsanding and compounding to see how it goes first.

but the kit is enough for 2 headlights. (i hope i was clear: it has a separate "set" for each headlight)
so you'll be using half of the contents and the other half will be left. They are INDIVIDUALLY packed (the packets of sealant as well as other things), so you just use HALF the NUMBER of PACKETS for each headlight.

go to the link I provided for the manufacturer on the 1st page of this thread; you'll see what I mean.

According to the web site it is NOW 20% off for online orders

The discounted price is $23.96

Looks like it went up 20% compared to 97tbird's purchase.

I have used eagle won nano paste on wify's headlites. It didn't leave any swurl marks or residue on her headlites. the nano paste also offers full uv protection.

Has anyone used the headlight kit that 3M sells? AZ has it for twenty bucks and it's supposed to be reusable, but I don't notice any chemicals, just sanding/buffing attachments for a drill. I'm kind of torn between getting the CV for twenty, which I know works based on T-bird's pics, but only has one use; or the reusable 3M that may or may not work for the same price.

I used 3M headlight kit on '00 MB E430 headlights, it has a small bag of plastic polish in the kit for two headlights.

WM has 8oz Meguiars Plastx for $4.xx, it can be used to clean many headlights with 3M kit.
