Just a thought. I've seen on here that some people will say that an engine is "Hard on oil." One reason I've seen is that some engines don't seal the cylinder fully and suffer fuel dilution like on GDI engines. What else qualifies an engine as "Hard on oil?"

Some engines, such as ones with long timing chains & variable valve timing, or diesels with HEUI/oil pressure fired injectors, can shear oil out of grade relatively quickly (5000 miles).

I don't think non turbo gdi engines like my accent 1.6l is very hard on oil at all.

I also take mine over 6k rpms fairly often.

Didn't know the current VQ35s were still tough on oil.

I have a first gen VQ and those things are known to shear oil like nobody's business.

I have read the same thing on the Nissan Infinti site saying the same thing has well. The VQ motor is the same I believe from the 4th generation to the 3rd. I think it is the same as the 5th as well. The specifications are the exact same at least between the third and forth.
