GRRR - Walmart and M1 0/40

Was it just a local Walmart, that you couldn't find M1 0W-40 Euro? Did you check Walmart.com?

I have found it hit or miss, in finding M1 0W-40 Euro at my local Walmart stores. For that reason, I always keep enough on hand, for a couple oil changes. Then I pick it up while on sale, or worse case, when available.

Getting it stuff shipped from walmart has been a debacle in the past.

i now recall i had this problem last time and finally got some...

Or try another Walmart. I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but I’m not kidding when I say that there are at least 30 Walmarts within a 50 mile radius of my house. I have been to every single one of them at some point searching for Hot Wheels for my collection. 😃

Order the 3 bottle box. This ensures i will ship from the DC because no store stocks it. It will ship for free, likely fed-ex.

Is the stuff that ends up shipping from store that turns into a cluster - for me at least. However if there is a problem walmart usually makes good on it.

The Problem with larger quanties is that it'll take me forever to use. The current oil went in in Nov 23 and has like 2500 miles on it, i'll probably change it at 2 years requardless, so 3 5 qt jugs takes me 6 years to use, unless i decide to convert the VW to it (side note, they did have ESPx2 0/20)

The 12 QT is even bigger problem, like when someone buys 8 hotdogs and 6 buns... what am i going to do with 2 extra hotdogs (QTS).

Had to go back for something else, website says they have 6 jugs available for pickup today - rang bell and asked guy to find one of them.

"if its not on the shelf, we don't have it"
"the shelf is a hot mess"
"we know"

No let me look, no i'm sorry, quite rude until i told him i put the M1 in order by the barcodes and tags.... and then he was like "thanks"

Well you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want boutique like service, head to the parts store. If you want cheap you get to order online or deal with walmart - and all its idiosyncrasies.

I was in fact there today - looking for fishing line for the specific reason I wanted to check the date code - Monofilament has a shelf life of 1 to 3 years - so say the experts. They of course did not have what I wanted. But I still managed to spend 50 bucks on stuff anyway.

Last weekend I crossed over the border into Niagara Falls NY and my main reason for going was because I had checked the Walmart website and they said that the location that I go to had 9 jugs of 0w20 VRP in stock. This location has not had VRP at all so I was excited (I previously had to drive further into Niagara Falls to the sketchier Walmart) But when I arrived at this Walmart there wasn’t any VRP at all. I asked an employee if maybe it was in the back and he checked the system there and told me that they don’t carry it at this location. It’s very annoying that the Walmart website shows incorrect information like that. 🤔

Are you able to order ahead for pick up? That way you wouldn't make a long drive to get nothing? If they don't have it - you get an email eventually saying there OOS.

Because I’m Canadian I don’t believe I can order anything from the US Walmarts, I think it will just direct me to the Canadian ones, that don’t carry VRP 🫤

Well you wont get Boutique service at any parts store around here. But really I don't consider keeping your inventory system updated and showing a little common courtesy "boutique" service. Frankly that anyone would is a rather sad statement on the state of retail.

Maybe i'll just order some Ravenol for it... I'll get boutique service from Blauparts.

Or I could just put some Morotcraft in it, it seems to like that about as well.

Stand by for a side rant about why there are at least 3 versions of 5/20 M1 on the shelf along with 4 versions of 0/20...

Well I live in realville, so I simply adapt to current conditions.

I haven't seen a properly stocked and organized walmart since 2019. Again, this is why I tend to order from walmart.com
