Going back to 3000 miles???

Thank you very much for all your responses.
I am now considering doing a used oil analysis soon to have a better view of what is going on in that engine but I think that the 3000-3500miles will make me sleep better.

Welcome to owning a GDI. Used to work in a lube shop and a lot of those the oil would turn dark after I started it then rechecked the oil. Oil coloration has nothing to do with the condition of the oil, however. Diesels turn the oil black, tar black either instantly or within a few hundred miles of a new oil change.
