I don't think directly. But it can be a testimony of how great the base oils are, which indirectly can it'll resist shearing. Well, I'm extrapolating a bit too much there.
I don't think you can reach a VI of 222 with average base oil and a huge load of VII, but I'm no formulator.
 
Sorry for bumping the thread,
Even it is summer now (Ambient temperature 25-30C ), at cold starts, there is minor grinding during shifting.
But after gearbox reach to its peak temperature, shifting is very smooth.
Does this mean even thinner oil would help? (Currently using Motul Gear 300 75W-90 ) or dedicated synchromesh fluids are necessary ?
