Hi all,

Can somebody tell me how and if high speed driving/reving gets rid of fuel injector and intake valve deposits?

How effective is this method?

What is the "proper" procedure by which this is done?

Any before/after pictures using this method?

The reason I ask this is that I would, if at all possible, would like to minimize the amount of after market additives I have to put in the gas tank. If driving/reving fast will do it, then at least it will be fun!

If I'm not mistaken, you are referring to an "Italian Tune-Up."

Also called "blowing the cobwebs out."

IMHO, revving your engine will not get rid of these. If so, most motors would never have deposits since they pretty much all see revs at some point.

Use some Fuel Power and be done with it

You will definitely get better cleaning when under high RPM, full load conditions. There is more flow through the injectors, and more heat in the C.C..
The results will be 30 times better if there is a good cleaner in the fuel. Fuel Power , Chevron Techron, or Gumout Regane, all work well.
More fuel run through in less time = faster cleaning.

I have heard good things about Motovac, did not help my car though but I had no problems so I think it was just clean to begin with.
On my second car now I have tried a few of the forum favorite additives FP made some improvement and I was happy with it, then I decided to try Neutra and it made a marked improvement that stuck around after it was all burned away

. My current plans are FP maintenence with occasional Neutra cleanings. My less than proffesional theory is that maybe each works best on differnt deposits and if you use both you get maximum results

. I do drive hard too so these results are on top of any good the WOT runs may have done.
