See the url below for some nice pictures and a good descripton of a Frantz bypass filter installation on a BMW motor. The owner tapped the Frantz's oil return line into the cast aluminum oil pan on his BMW.
He also used one of the standard single outlet Frantz sandwich plate adapters as the source for the oil to his bypass filter. Check the pix, this looks like a nice installation:
