Fram has to be selling 4 to 1 on oil filters!

The girlfriends dad and brother are sadly among the lost..

Her brother even used an OCOD with PP. I finally have him convinced to use a Fram Ultra.

Yeah the stigma is turning around here, and pretty quickly too. Quite a few members are running TGs now and as their success stories and pics get posted the community will turn on Purolator (in part because of the tears recently) and Frams will be the new flavor of the week. Eventually people who deny Frams for past quality issues will be looked at the same as the "Pennzoil turns to wax!" types.

The local Walmart stores in Irvine, CA are much nicer to shop than Target, Sears, Kmart ...

You go right ahead...I wouldn't touch a Fram filter with a 10 ft pole!

I ran an OCOD for 6,000 miles in severe mountain terrain, and then traveled across the country with it. My engine perfectly fine. Want to know something even crazier? I'd gladly use OCOD again, as I know it is a perfectly fine filter given the proper application.

Recognize that Fram has a strong marketing presence in the auto ailse. Ever notice how the oil filter selection in many Walmarts has a Fram display? That extra marketing isn't done for nothing, and often equates to stronger sales.

Other filters however, such as Motorcraft, Bosch, or Purolator, do not have as large a marketing effort. Therefore, I am not surprised to hear that a quick sample of general public will choose OCOD.

Unless you have had a filter related failure with Fram then your post is silly
I have used Fram off and on for 45 yrs with no problem

Before I started looking at this forum a few years ago that was all I used was the Fram Orange can and I never had a problem and also put about 250-300,000 miles on several cars with the Orange can. To be honest at times I think I should just stop looking at this forum and go back to what I did some years ago that is cheep oil and cheep filters with 5-7,000 mile oil changes my cars seem to last just as long as running the good stuff.

Why you say that?

The stores are filthy, and I feel like I have to shower when I leave. Feeling dirty after shopping isn't worth saving a few pennies.

Depends on the store and location.

One near me is an "older" store. its messy (i.e. new stock in the way in some aisles) but its not dirty (i.e. the floors are clean, etc)

Another near me is a newer store and its not messy OR dirty.

To me Walmart is like a necessary evil. I blame their massive oil selection. And PYB is still $16 for the 5 qt jug here, compared to $25+ at every other local auto store.

Either you got bad Wal-Marts or have not been to a K-Mart to see what dirty really is.

At least at K-Mart you can buy Quaker State Defy for like $2.50/quart. Worth it, I think lol.

Not at all...there are much better filters available for the same, or less money, so why even bother with them?

im using the tough guard and wouldn't hesitate to use the extra guard, iwish they would put the silicone adbv in the eg too.

The Walmart that is near my residency is far from dirty. Dont get me wrong, you still see the lazy ones riding around in the electronic carts from time to time. But they keep it clean & its quiet which is always a plus in my book also!!
