it was always there.
VERY nice!
But consider that now Ford has a turbo V6 that is a couple hundred bucks away from the specs of the last gen Lightning (02-04 had 380 HP/450 lb-ft).
I remember thinking back in '03 or '04 that cars and trucks would gradually get smaller and have smaller engines due to rising gas prices. Guess I was wrong!
550 HP 5.4L GT500
440 HP 5.0L Boss 302
412 HP 5.0L Mustang GT
411 HP 6.2L Raptor/F150
400 HP (800 lb.-ft.) 6.7L PowerStroke
365 HP (420 lb.-ft.) 3.5L EcoBoost work-truck
360 HP 5.0L volume work-truck engine
And speed limit still stays the same. I find it hard enough to control the speed of my 92 Corolla with over 300k miles and less than 100 hp on highway. I literally have to watch my speedometer and RPM gauges because it will creep to 70 mph without my knowledge on smooth highway. On certain sections of road here that were paved recently, it easily get 80 mph in 55 zones with 45 speed traps thrown in. I can't see myself needing that much power for anything but passing and I would love to have NOS or some instant boost for that available at the steering wheel so I don't have to take my hands off what they are meant for - STEERING.
It's amazing it can run on 87 octane. I wonder if Ford says something like "91 preferred, but 87 acceptable" or if it ismply says "use 87 octane." I also wonder if they recommend synthetic for the turbos.
