I had prime several years ago for a year or 2.
I don;t like how now, they add it to your order twice( free 30 day trial), and you have to delete it twice before clicking place order, and one also has to make sure that one clicks the free shipping option , as they will try and charge you for expedited shipping once one opts out of the free 30 day prime trial.
I've been buying a lot more stuff on Ebay, from US and Asian vendors. Most US sellers the items ship the next day and arrive within 3 or 4. No 25$ minimum to get free shipping, and often more selection and better prices on Ebay. Not always of course. I found some 3m feathering disc adhesive on Amazon 6$ cheaper than Ebay, and ordered 6$ of another product to get free shipping, and got a shipping notification within hours.
One strange event is the brushes on my dremel recently wore out. I did not log into my Amazon account, but shopped for them on both amazon and Ebay. I later found some brushes for some unknown power tool in my spare parts bin, and filed them to size to fit the dremel and got it fully functional, but wanted actual dremel brushes. No hurry anymore, I ordered a set of 3 brushes from Ebay for 10$, a Thailand based seller, estimated delivery 3 to 4 weeks.
The next day a package from Amazon arrives in a prime envelope. 3 pairs of brushes and a hand scissored note saying ' A gift from Amazon' or something to that effect.
I had NOT signed into my Amazon account when I searched for dremel brushes, and use Ccleaner before and after every internet session. and ordered the brushes from Thailand through Ebay., and got a notice the same day from Ebay that the brushes arrived, that the brushes shipped from Thailand, but 'no tracking # available.
BUt 6 weeks have gone by since, and no brushes from Thailand have arrived, not that I need them anymore.
I've some other ebay Asia originated orders that seem to be running late by a week or 3, but they are not something I needed immediately or I would have paid more for a US based seller.
Almost every thing bought from a US based seller on Ebay ships quickly, but I have to sign into Ebay to get the tracking number.
I used to wish Amazon had what i wanted, rather than have to go through Ebay, but now I check Ebay first, then Amazon, then variations on the search terms of both vendors. I get annoyed when searching Amazon bookmarking a link coming back a day or 3 later to order it to find the price jumped. I got through my neighbors Wifi and the price is the same as 3 days prior. This has occurred more than twice. and has soured me on Amazon
Same happens when shopping plane tickets via the airline sites or travel sites. Find a good price, wait a day or two, come back and prices jump 30 to 50$. Try same search through another Wifi's IP address and that 30 to 50$ increase is gone.
