Based on reading lots of reviews and threads on the subject... I'd probably suggest looking at DuraTrac's competitor from cooper, the S/T MAXX. It has a tougher/stiffer sidewall, harder rubber compound, and a quieter running tread pattern, especially when compared at higher mileage. The S/T MAXX has decent "luggyness" for some offroad dig.
Lots of people seem to have trouble with duratrac's on heavy vehicles or for towing applications. Not so much failures, just more to do with the way they track and wear being poor compared to "harder/stiffer" tires. The best thing about duratracs is that they are sticky and flexible, making them awesome in winter and awesome on light weight SUV's.
