These people got fired in the last week. Where I work, we have around 860 people employed. One guy got fired when he was caught in the act eating another employees lunch, and admitted to it. One guy decided he needed to grab a womans behind. One guy fell asleep in a bathroom stall, by the security camera tape, it showed him in the bathroom for 1.5 hours.

It's funny how these things work.

Work has tried to sack people for having a beer while on their luch break (bad), while offering others taxi trips to work in "emergency" situations when they are innebriated. Head Office is renowned for having champagne parties when the marketing team have a success, while writing policies to sack site employees.

Interesting when managers get caught trying to seduce contract staff...just who leaves site.

That's some pretty funny stuff. I'm not sure anybody needed to be fired though...couldn't they just get sent home for a week without work/pay? The only time I've ever had a co-worker fired was when he couldn't consistently get into work. Training new people is a pain so once you're in you're usually in for good.

Cheers, Steve

They have a security camera looking into the bathroom stall? Or does it watch the door to count in/out?

A decade ago, they decided to use the security gate as "Time and Attendance".

I thought that it was a great idea, and sugested that it could also be used to replace the filling out of overtime forms, and the associated timekeeping costs.

They dropped security gates for time and attendance as a concept.

(guess that they really did know which side of the bread contained the butter)

Yeah - who's timing the crapper? And maybe the boss should be canned, too.

Fired for a quick grab? Dang, I used to eat others lunches all the time

When I worked at Walmart (1988) we had a Loss Prevention Officer that was working 'undercover' as a stock clerk in our store. He worked like the rest of the stock clerks, unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, etc....but he was taking notes on everybody. Long story short - 15 employees were fired for stealing including a manager.

I worked for 10 years in a hospital, good long-term co-worker got canned for goosing a babe with a banana. Sexual harrassment.

I worked in the supply dept., we had an elevator key to run our 'vator independently. A couple guys I worked with would key it off between floors whilst riding with a nurse aide and have sex. Cooperative kinda thing, no one ever got in trouble over it.

Work for security companies for two years you'll see them all. Sexual relations in any place you can think of (bosses desk such as)- way to many to recall in one post, sexual harrasement, charging in excess of $12k on customers credit cards, sleeping - the most common, taking company vehicles off-road or on-road in some cases and completey destroying it - one time the tow truck went to pickup one up and most of the suspension fell off front and back, doughnuts in parking lot with company/personal vehicles, vandilism - not that common though, those with porn addictions - 1 or 2 I think ended up in the slammer. That's all I dare to recall right now.

I work at a Target store and we've had a few people get fired for some pretty stupid things. About a year ago, a kid working in the electronics department thought he could get away with stealing a camera. His plan was to buy the camera, process the return himself, and still keep the camera, hoping nobody would notice. Well, BUSTED! He was fired on the spot and arrested.

The best one was our store manager was fired for sexual harassment. He was in his early 50s, and would walk around quietly and stare at the young girls working at the store for hours. Once rumor got around that he was doing this, Target Corporate undercover people came in, watched him and a few days later, told him to pack his bags. When asked why he left, other managers in the store told us that he left due to "difference of opinion." Gotta love the grapevine.

We had a general manager with a true addiction to porn. keep in mind this guy is second in command at the company. He was embezzling petty cash to buy huge amounts of porn mags, videos, etc. He would "work" late quite often and even "work" on weekends. He was caught red handed (pun intended) one evening by a second shift maintenance worker while watching a movie and "working" himself. this guy had worked for the company for more than 15 years.

this is the "light" version of the story, there are more details that I left out. we knew he'd been doing it for years, just didn't know he was stealing from the company to do it.

Another story is at another place we printed guitar picks. we had printed up a set for the Rolling Stones latest tour at the time, but the tour hadn't started. a couple of guys at the company stole a bag of the picks and were selling them on Ebay. one of the members of the band found them on Ebay and called the company president wanting to know why their pick were for sale on Ebay and they hand't even gone on that tour. the guys were fired instantly over $5 worth of plastic guitar picks.

I find that almost unbelievable that someone would steal others' lunches. The person stealing mine would be very easy to spot though: it would be the guy with the enormous pupils who's scared and confused and can't form sentences.

That would probably be a bad idea though for legal reasons, so Ex-Lax it is!

It happened on a daily basis at the place I used to work.

I worked in a place where they actually installed a security camera in the break room [pointed at ONLY the refrigerator] to catch lunch thieves.
It was a great job with fantastic benefits at a Grade A employer. Why you would risk it, I don't know.

I buddy of mine was tired of a guy drinking the iced tea in his thermos so he pi$$ed in it one morning. That was the last time his iced tea disappeared.

Pablo,
it's not so easy where I work, but there have been quite a few transfers that appear to prevent people from being a nuisance (i.e. doing their job well enough to make senior people uncomfortable).

As to stealing food, back in the good old days, there was a pie warmer in every meal room, and guys would take a "hot-pot" to work, leave it in the warmer, and eat it at lunch.

There was one guy that used to be an equal opportunity lunch theif, taking a few spoonfulls of each.

So they started putting a decoy lunch of dog food in the warmer everyday...didn't stop him, just made the guys feel a little better.
