My wife calls it stuffing, I call it dressing - whatever it's called, it's my favorite part of Thanksgiving Day dinner. This year I tried something different. Saw it on an episode of Triple D in the last month or so.
Sauteed sweet onion, bell peppers, celery, and carrots.
Roux-based with half & half and chicken broth whisked in.
Equal parts stale wheat and rye bread, then salt, pepper, spices to taste.
Baked at 350 for almost an hour.
Supposed to add oysters, but money is tight this year.
Very tasty, so I'll probably do it again next year - with the oysters, I hope.
