would like to know on what platform this car was built on ...i know for example that the PONTIAC VIBE is built on the TOYOTA MATRIX platform ...

Its all-new, I believe. Its shared with the Jeep Compass and Patriot, but the Caliber came first.

Go with the Vibe or Matrix. The Unitized body Chrysler products are some of the worst in retaining resale value.

The Caliber is based on a Mitsubishi platform. I believe it's the Lancer but could be the Galant (or are those two the same platform?)
