Discount Tire is the best

My experiences with DT and DTD have all been good.

They work quickly and efficiently, and I've never had to go back to have them right a wrong. But I watch them as they work, as I would with any tire shop.

But I am more fond of their old promotional model, where sales with good discounts were timed to coincide with major holidays.

Not the current model with more frequent, but weaker sales on a limited selection of tires.

I have had both good and bad from them. generally more good.

Last Thursday we had tires put on the FJ. I requested that they take the RR and put it on the spare rim on the back of the car as the currant spare is extremely cracked.

I was on the phone with my wife when she was taking to the sales guy and heard her tell him that.

Got tires. She left.

She doesn't know a good tire from a bad one.

This morning I noticed that they did not swap the spare like I asked. I called them.

They said the tire is gone and there's nothing they can do but sell me another $250 tire.

I said no thx and hung up

Was it written on the invoice/work order - to do change the spare tire?

Do you have a vinyl cover on the tire?

I've only had one snafu with DT and it was recently. I decided to utilize their 30 day money back guarantee (tire swap not full refund) and the gentleman put in all kinds of numbers and came back to me and said it would cost me $400 to get into a different set of tires. Mind you, these tires were almost $1,000 less than the originals I had purchased. Said there was nothing he can do and this is because of the pro-rating. A call to corporate and 10 minutes later the store called me to make it right. Got in the new tires and was refunded almost $800(install fees etc). Initially wasn't handled well but in the end worked out just fine.

I have had enough good experiences with them, that I'll keep on going there.
I usually have great service but this past Wednesday was a little irritating. I needed tires for my Cavalier. I found a couple of different options on DT website. I was initially going to go with the Arizonan tires that were a step up from the serenity tires. My cavalier has 15 inch vs the base 14 inch tires. The young sales guy said he only had three of the Arizonians so I went ahead with the Serenity tires and paid for them. Ten minutes later after I'd already paid and had my car jacked up he came in and said twice that they actually have four of the better option tires and am I sure that I don't want to upgrade? Nope I already paid and the guys in the bay are working on it. He also tried to tell me that Discount Tire manufacturer their own tires....

Years ago we had an S10 blazer with alloy wheels and the bead corrosion problems. DT would pull the tire clean the bead, re-mount balance and didn't charge my wife a dime. We've been buying tires there now for years and have been very satisfied. Most recent were a set of continentals on our Camaro.

Will Discount tire install a different speed rating on a car....such as a V to a H rated tire????
They did when I took my Dad's 4-cylinder Sonata there to get new tires. The Michelins it came with from the factory were V-rated, I had them put on H-rated Michelins. They didn't argue or even mention it if I recall.

But it was certainly not a performance car.

DT over last 20+ years. Never an issue. They always will settle for a lesser price than first offered. Great professional service.

I have always been a big fan of DT and it seems their non-franchise structure (all company owned stores) lets them keep a tighter leash on their store ops. We all know the franchise BS where there is only so much the mother ship can do to try to control the crap franchisees.

Been going to the same DT for 13 years now and it is very highly rated and incredibly popular. The only negative I can say is because it is so popular if you don't have an appointment you will be waiting awhile, sure they will get to you same day for the most part but you might be sitting there for a hot minute. Place is busy as hell from the time the open to the time they close.

Have not had a bad experience with DT across multiple cities over the years, it's my go to tire shop.
