Anybody use the Lubelocker gaskets on their differentials? How effective are they compared to using the RTV like Ford specs? Looking at refreshing the rear dif oil in a couple vehicles and I never liked dealing with the RTV mess but I can't deny it works; never had a leak and don't want one. How often do you need to re-torque the lubelockers?

Never tried those … but I used my last GMC gasket for 8 years (neoprene maybe?) …

Some of the cheaper aftermarket are fiber types …

This is a good question. I have the same maintenance item coming up shortly on my F150 and would to use a fel-pro gasket instead of the RTV the factory used. As noted RTV is messy and one could goof it up. Another disturbing aspect is that only certain RTVs should be used due to modern diff oils having additives that can dissolve the RTV sealant.
Listening to what everyone has to say....

I went to the website … might give those a roll later on … but plan to re use the Z71 gasket shortly …
(my early change) …

I used the Fel-pro paper gasket on a 2011 F150 (blue colored paper). Works great - a lot easier than RTV and much quicker. And, the next time I change my differential fluid, it will be a lot easier to take off - spent all sorts of time scraping off the factory-applied RTV when I did the last fluid change.

Have not seen factory silicone in years ... maybe they finally figured out good gaskets are cost effective in time saved ,..

Put a new Lubelocker on today after a rear diff change. 2014 F250. Been using for 80K, no leaks and never re-torqued. Will never use gasket maker again when Lubelocker is an option.

So if i understand, the lubelocker goes on a clean dry surface with no sealant of any kind, and can be reused? Does anyone have experience reusing them?

Ford hasn't used gaskets on diff covers in years. I have personally never sold one, just silicone. The listings that do show a gasket have the part updating to silicone.

Used a lubelocker gasket on my mustangs rear diff a couple weeks ago. SO. MUCH. BETTER. THAN. RTV.

No cure time. No maneuvering cover full of RTV around the panhard bar and cussing up a storm... I could go on and on.

Use with confidence (but make sure you clean the crap out of the mating surfaces.)
