2006 Mazdaspeed 6. A little something to make better use of my Penzoil Platinum stash. ;-)

Congrats, my wife has the nearest competition car to it the Subaru Legacy GT (wagon for family) and hers is a hoot to drive.

Very nice! Does it have a stiffer/lower suspension compared to the regular 6? I would assume so, but the wheel gap is still noticeable. At least you won't damage the bumper easily...

I think it's lowered a bit, and is actually quite stiff. Will take some getting used to. I guess that's the penalty to pay for rail-like handling. Someone on the Mazda3 Forum said I should get it lowered..I just told him I prefer my fascias and skirts without road rash on them. The roads around Dallas aren't well suited to low cars.

Nice car. What part of Dallas are you in? That background looks familiar to me.

Bring that thing to WI. We have some nice twisty roads you can drive on.

Very nice. I drove one of those last year and it felt like driving a European sports sedan. It also seemed to be built very solidly. I also liked the steering wheel and the gauge cluster, which has the aircraft style gauges (even with red backlight) that I like so much. Please get rid of the upper engine cover, though.

Ahhhhhhh, the latest trend!!!!!!

Don't select lubricant for your new conveyance. Nope.

Select a conveyance to match your lubricants!!!!!!

The sales folks will go nuts over this.

I'm sure this'll get some backlash, but I'll tell the story anyway. The car is actually a 'certified pre-owned' in Mazda's executive demo program...some Mazda exec put 2000 miles on the car and sent it off to be sold. At 2059 miles the dealership changed the oil and put it on the lot. I noticed the sticker on the windshield yesterday and became curious about what they might have put in the engine, so I called them. The girl I spoke to said they use QS 5W-20. I glazed over. My owner's manual states 5w30 only, across the board, regardless of climate. Keeping my turbo in mind, I ran out and bought a filter and got mentally prepared for an at-home oil change last night after work. During my drive to get the filter, the service manager called to apologize for the mis-information, and that he actually keeps 5w30 on hand in the shop for use in Mazdaspeed vehicles, his techs are trained to use it in Mazdaspeed vehicles, and not to worry as my car actually got 5w30. So....do I believe him? If it did get dino 5W-20, does anyone here think it'll hurt anything?

Did he offer this information unsolicited, or was it a response to your pointing out the 5w30 requirement? I don't trust dealer stooges. Most of their job is to make the customer feel good.

To be on the safe side, drain out their fill into a clean container and reuse it on one of your secondary vehicles. That way your can sleep well knowing your Mazda is protected with no guilt over wasting the fluid.

That's what's giving me the sick feeling in my stomach...I emailed him asking if they REALLY used 5W-20 in a car that clearly states 5w30 in the owner's manual, and he called me back to assure me that 5w30 was used. However, I doubt there's a way he could prove it. He's going on 100% faith in his technicians that they knew the car they were servicing. That's about 98% more faith than I have in them.
