Started this little experiment awhile ago. Want to take part and see what you get?

Post the year/make/model/engine of your vehicle. Also the oil, grade, and API service.

Ill post back what my calculator spits out.

Come on, what's the formula? That's all we really care about.

Yes, PU 5w-40 is still API SM.

12 months is basically my plan for this car. I did 16 months (6K miles) once and didn't like the UOA results.

Does your calculator take oil sump capacity into account at all?

2004 Saturn Ion, 2.2 Ecotec, QSUD 5w30 SN (in currently)

Just for fun ...

6526 or 8 months.

Honda 4-cylinders kinda defy the calculator a bit, since they are very easy on oil.
Using another factor i might add in for these 4-cylinders... how about 8644 miles

Any OLM using only sump capacity and "the year/make/model/engine and the oil, grade, and API service" is not accurate. Missing critical parameters: ambient temp (cold or hot or something in between), driving conditions(short trips or long highway drives) ...

Camry (with "easy on oil") factor: 9100 miles or 10.9 months
Pontiac: 7398 or 8.9 months

I cant find the TBN for PP 5w30 SN, so i assumed it was 9.0
