Costco Tire Balance issue

Nothing against Costco, perhaps they just got a bad batch of weights with poor adhesive and it fell off.

Either way, my issue is resolved.

Tires have 7000 miles on them.

First 7000 miles was vibration free. It was only after rotate balance was the vibration felt. 2nd balance after rotate resolved 95% of the balance. Was noticeable, but ever so slight, but 1 week, later the vibrations are back.

@edyvw,
Sorry, I wasn't clear. We have 1 Costco in town, next closest one os over 70 miles away
Wondering if the rear tires are wearing funky so once they rotated you started feeling it through the front end. Anything through the wheel though or just the seat?

When you walk into the shop if they have loud music playing! Like America's Tire that I've been to a few times they're not focusing on their work; they're just effing off.

Most places hire kids first time job Tire busting and they follow the little balance light.
There is a lot more to balancing a tire before you put air in it and weights ,
you need to look at balance marks on the tire itself as well as the wheel.

Nobody seems to give two squats about that anymore.
When you're racing motorcycles or fast track days , you look at those things very precisely because you don't want any kind of harmonic vibration on those wheels and tires.

Yes take it back and force them to do it right, also call Michelin and ask them to support their tires because the wholesaler is not able to balance them.
They will probably contact them and send them a new set of tires. That's if you're using Michelin?

my two cents here

I have used Discount Tire for 20 years, always happy with the service, but this year I purchased from Costco.

Was about $200 cheaper for the set compared to DT with certs.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 on the XC70 and Avalon. Love the tires.
Fast forward to first Tire rotation, Balance and pressure check on the XC70, waited 1.75 hours even with an appt., get on the HWY and feel, vibrations. Make another appt 1 week out, they Balance only. They get it done 1.5 hours later. Costco prints out the amount of weights that were installed on each tire. Depending on Tire is was .5 oz to .75 oz off.

Drive home and vibration was less, abd acceptable.

It's been a week and vibrations are back.

What is your opinion,
Go to Discount Tire and pay $50 to have them Balance, or give Costco another chance..

Not a fan of how long it takes for anything Tire related at Costco. There is only one within a 70 mile radius.

Has anyone experienced Balance issues from Costco?
To me that's about typical for tire R&B even with an appt. Only tire shop near me has no appts. First come first served. It took me half an hour day to get the tires mounted. I always buy my tires at Costco unless I want a cheaper tire. They only sell premium and sometimes you don't want premium tires. I was waiting for their Michelin sale. They usually alternate between Bridgestone and Michelin month to month. For some reason they went 2 straight months with just Bridgestone. I read everyone raving about the Scorpion AS-3 on here so thought I'd try them. Wish I'd just waited.

Jiminy crickets I just saw this post and I dodged the bullet from Costco yesterday. I ordered a set of new Michelin tires because they're having an $80 give back on a set of four. Paid for them online and scheduled an appointment. Got there and I checked in. The attendant said we are an hour behind schedule if you don't mind waiting we might get you in sooner. I said sure gave him my key and as you know Costco doesn't have any waiting room with air conditioning,
so I'm waiting outside in 90 plus degree temperature at least in the shade. Finally an hour and a half later they take my car into the bay and pull the wheels off it. I get a call on my phone from the attendant at Costco so I walk over to the bay and say hey I'm right here! He says, we can't install your tires because they're not OE spec. Costco has a policy they only install OE size tires here on the West Coast.
So I was there for almost two and a half hours because I had to go back into the store and get a complete refund on the set of four, and wait for them to put my tires back on. I left some nice feedback. All of this could have been avoided if the attendant that checked me in looked at my spec sheet and saw that I had a 24 Toyota RAV4 and these tires were a slightly bit taller with the aspect ratio area. Risk management and liability issues at its finest. Somebody must have sued them.
