Just dont do it. While it is highly unlikely that a gamefully employed IT professional would risk their career for a quick shopping spree, there are stupid people in this world.

As for internet communication, most of that is encripted nowadays.
 
You can but you shouldn't.

I was once told by some IT staff that they were forced to fire one guy because he bought home his laptop to vpn into the office and work. He made a mistake and download torrent on his laptop instead of his home pc (remote desktop), the traffic end up in the VPN.

IT and HR are there to protect the company, not you.
 
Decided not to even use my personal desktop to connect remotely to my office PC.

Keeping work and personal separate is the way to go. Now if only I could get co-workers to stop texting my personal phone with work-related matters, haha.
