Thanks but she won't be turning over in the winter. We've had a cold wet summer which in western Pennsylvania usually translates into a cold and extra-snowy winter. Just realized that was you Pickled, how ya doing buddy?

Life is good here in CO my man...we have [censored] months here too, but nothing like Youins have in PA! Get the car tarp out and let the 440 sleep well to dream about ripping up pavement! Enjoy the Yuenglings in the winter...it will help you get by!

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to make sure that other people were doing the same thing I was for a little confidence booster.

One more question. Come to think of it, why do diesel oils contain more zinc and phosphorous than typical gas oils? I know it's always been that way but why? Anybody have an answer?

Diesel engines operate under a lot more heat, stress and pressure. The compression ratio on a diesel is FAR more than a gasoline engine. The conditions diesel engines operate under are typically far more severe.

SO, their oils are far more robust to deal with this, as well as the soot they produce.

The rods are hammered harder, and the clearances are much tighter, so the POSSIBILITY of metal-to-metal contact is increased. So the "Last line of defence", is there in abundance to prevent damage.

Overkill,
So would you recommend a CJ-4/SM rated 15w40 for a street/ strip Dodge 440?

I believe they do offer better protection under abusive situations than a PCMO, yes.

My personal favourite is Delvac 1 5w40/M1 TDT 5w40, but you can't go wrong with any of them really.
