It has other advantages such as oxidation resistance and a naturally high VI. The downsides can be mitigated by blending it with a mineral oil, that's why no reputable blender sells a "100% PAO" oil.

PAO has better high heat stability and doesn't require PPD's to obtain exceptional low temperature performance so you can typically use a higher visc PAO base to obtain the desired winter rating, meaning less VII in the overall blend as well.
