Choosing an oil and filter...newbie

I'd personally use M1 HM with the grade dictated by the ambient temperatures, which are now low where you live, so the 0W-20 would be fine.
I wouldn't be too picky about oil filter, but in cold weather you probably want a silicon ADBV, so a Fram TG would be a good and not too expensive pick.
Run the oil for 4-5K and monitor consumption.
If you do see consumption, the detergency adds of the M1 HM are formulated to free up the rings, which will reduce consumption.
The Fit you have is a fairly old school Honda with none of the VCM/DI/turboed tiny engine/made in Mexico nonsense.
May well prove to be a solid car although 175K with iffy maintenance is a little worrisome.
Good luck with this little guy. They are incredibly spacious for their footprint and they are fun to drive, even if a little too short geared.
