cheap laptops

I think we need to determine what one means by "cheap"

I look at cheap as $300.00 - $350.00 (on sale) for a touch screen 11+ inch of larger laptop.
We have two of them for when we just want to sit on the lower level family room vs coming upstairs to our desktops.
One is an HP, one a Dell, both with lower level intel processors. Been rock solid and perfect for sitting on the sofa, does everything we need to do with it.

Can't you do the basic things you do on those laptops on a smart phone?

Sure you can do basic things on a smart phone and more.

A windows laptop however does everything a windows desktop does with its assortment of USB ports and HDMI port.
A laptop also gives you the luxury of a much larger screen over a cell phone.

For $100 my daughter got three years out of a Chromebook 100s and then screen failed. She used it daily.

Chromebooks are basically the Chrome browser atop a Linux kernel.
