For Corvette and it is mediocre at best.

What makes you say that Formula ESP 0w40 is mediocre? I know it just came out but I figured it was very similar to Formula ESP 5w30 which is a very impressive oil, IMO (that's why I'm using it)

One indication: HTHS of 3.53cp. Mobil1 ESP 5W30 is W30 and HTHS is 3.58cp.
ESP 5W30 is completely different animal. I would say stick to it as long as you can.
Mobil1 offers in Europe ESP 0W40 that is same base as ESP 5W30. It has HTHS of 3.76cp.

I would say not as good base stock. I personally do not like where Mobil1 is going.

Maybe we should ask a M1 helpline or technical guy

Local Walmarts in New York have been out of the Castrol edge EU for a while. I've been buying the mobile 1 European car formula... That has also sold out at a few stores.

Not sure what's up but mobile 1 doesn't even list the wuropwan car formula anymore. They now offer a "new" product called "annual protection" for $39 which I believe is what is supposed to replace the EU stuff at $25. At least that what their website says. Annual protection 15k mile oil is their new premium oil.

Sure, it's listed on the Mobil site. It just may not be completely intuitive, and the 0w-40 is part of the "vanilla" M1 lineup, just like Castrol 0w-40 isn't positioned in the higher price tier; same with Pennzoil's 5w-40 A3/B4 offering. There is no A3/B4 Mobil 1 AP (or EP for that matter) offering.

It was still all over the shelves at both local WM to me. And they normally don't have anything I want.

BTW, somebody had wiped the shelf clean of PPHM 5W30...

As a matter of fact, Castrol 0W40 was on Rollback to $24.67.

I emailed them with that question, no response....

It's been that price for quite some time, I believe. That's the exact price I paid for my last 5-qt bottle back in June.

I finally found it on a web site, and a MSDS but would need you guys' comment:
1. Is it a correct GC 0w-40? See cover.jpg and cover1.jpg

2. in the MSDS, it showed 25%~50% "Based oil - highly refined oil" ---> does this mean it's 25%~50% Group III?
see 0w-40.jpg

Thanks.

I think I mistook the GC 0w-40 as a 100% PAO oil.

According to the MSDS, it shall be around 50% PAO+ 50% Group III, is that correct?

2016 it was vollsynthese, castrol has cheap base oil now days(not all grades). Would be nice if they lowering the prices too in eu.

It is now majority GRIII. In Germany they stopped advertising it as full synthetic. Right now Castrol only has two majority PAO oils, 10W60 and 0W30 LL04.
Still, 0W40 is really stout oil.

Local Walmart had a (1) 5 quart last week which I bought. Yesterday they were fully stocked with GC 0W40?

Went to do a change yesterday on my sister's Jetta. Local WalMart had 1 quart of Castrol 0w40, the place for the jugs was empty. They also had no Mobil 1 0w40. Stopped at Advance Auto, they also did not have any Castrol 0w40. I ended up getting Mobil 1 0w40 at Advance (last jug). For kicks I went to the WalMart in the other direction later on in the day, no Castrol 0w40 there either. What gives?

I think a small number of people buy multiple bottles at a time anytime it is in stock.

I ordered some on Amazon for when I need to change the oil in my car. It was the same price as WalMart and I didn't have to drive there, can't beat that.
