Hi all, I just sold my '98 Altima a few weeks ago and I forgot to give them the tool kit that came with the spare tire. I put the x-shaped lug-wrench in it, thinking that was all they needed (doh!), but I was looking at the tool kit more closely and noticed there's another bar that connects to the original lug wrench, which i'm assuming is part of the jack. I'm worried that if they get a flat tire, they're gonna need this stuff. Here's a picture of the tools:

Does anyone know if the jack will work without these? I'm assuming it won't, so I'm gonna give the buyers a call tomorrow and bring it to them, but just wanted to make sure before hand.

The hooked end goes into the crank loop on the scissor jack. The straight/square end of the hooked tool goes into the square receiver on the lug wrench and turns the combination of the two into a scissor jack crank.

The buyer needs this two-part tool to crank up the scissor jack, and to loosen the wheel lugs.

Alright, that's what I figured since it looks similar to what's in my Integra now. I feel bad not giving this to the owner, but I didn't know that they'd need it. I thought the bar was just to pry hubcaps off, and the other was simply a lug-nut wrench

Learned my lesson. Hopefully they'll be understanding with me!

If you have the buyer's phone number or e-mail, I'd just let them know you realized it wasn't in the car. Then they can either pick it up if they want (heck you can leave it on your porch if you're not home) or they can get some other jack, but at least they're aware.

Of course, presence of a jacking device does not guarentee the presence of a functional spare tire.

Regularly Old Coot sees the vehicle on the roadside with one corner elevated with a jack and a bare, naked, exposed brake assembly with nary a tire to cover the assembly.

No humans around so assume they left to get tire repaired due to lack of a spare tire.

Of course, the mentally numb one may simply not be aware of the presence of a spare hidden under or behind some removable inner body panel or nestled up under the hind end of the vehicles exterior.

Will refrain from mentioning the many females met through life with nary a clue about anything regarding preparing for a fixing a flat tire scenario. Well, being prepared for much of anything, actually, other than the sale at the mall or covering up real or imagined skin imperfections no matter how minute.

Nope, won't mention the many addled females.

Many of 'em can't even cook.

What are the wimmenfolk good for nowadays other than the obvious.... such as posing in a bikini for Web sites?

Coot confused.
