Can of Shellac blew up today

The sound is much louder than I expected. According to a friend.

I had an almost empty can of spray foam and gave it a toss into the embers then stood back. It was quite the bang.

That's all i can see happening too. I've mixed my own shellac with flakes and denatured alcohol, which had methanol . Was the lid or any part rusty? What did you pry off the lid with? Maybe the steel of the implement and the lid of the can sparked and lit off the alcohol vapor.

Shellac should be less volatile than lacquer. Real nitrocellulose lacquer is extremely flammable.

Used a srewdriver. If there was a flash I didn't see it or smell anything. Eyebrows intact lol.

Where do you live that it's almost 80* in winter?

They're still golfing in southern MN. My SIL just moved back from Denver, over 80 there on Sunday.
