Hello,

I have the habit of doing a quick inspection of the car whenever I wash it and found that the boots of the steering rack are torn/detached how serious is it ? should I replace them and can they be reattached ? or need new ones ?

Thanks

I sure would replace them. Now you have dirt getting into the steering rack. That will surely kill it quickly.

It's a pretty easy DIY if you've ever worked on stuff.

The problem with this tear, is where the tear is, it’s a bad tear. I don’t think you’ll be able to reconnect it.

It’s not the end of the world either, it’s just a bellow boot. They might make something to replace it without having to remove the outer tie rods...like a two piece boot or something.

what's the loose connector?
I have no clue I have another thread for that --- I need to identify that too
