yes keep it real and realize everyone is entitled to their opinion. I recently got a small vacation from the site and really kinda missed BSing with everyone at night.

There are times when i "think" i know a little about oil.....and then there are times i feel like i don't know nothing.

I love this site and i appreciate all the knowledge you guys share with all of us that want to learn more.

I feel that a growing number of BITOGer's bring there opinions here and post them as FACT which most of the time is incorrect.

+1

Look at the UOA's.

Change your oil every 4,000 miles or so. Your engine will go to the junkyard with a very clean valvetrain!!
Use coventional, unless your car requires synthetic.

All this hype over PU, Castrol Edge,or the next "wonder oil" is just splitting hairs. Any namebrand oil, in the right viscocity, changed at proper OCI, will make your car last longer than you are going to want to drive it.

And now, after reading the Pennzoil Ultra Q&A's I may just put that in my Honda and do 6mo. oil changes instead of 4 mo.

Welcome aboard the Pennzoil wagon. I used the Yellow Bottle in high school and college. I used the first Pennzoil synthetic(Performax with Pennzane) when I first started commuting then I went back to the YB then I started using Platinum for years until Ultra came out.

I don't remember ever using Pennzoil synthetic in the past 32 years. Although I have used plenty of PYB, and have QS green bottle in my Honda now. My owners manual recommends 6mo./5,000mi. OCI's for severe service. I have always done 3 or 4 month changes because I thought 6mo. was too long for conventional with all my very short trips. I may just put Ultra in and try to make it 6 months without having an oil change panic attack!!!
