Okay, I'm not sure why everyone is coming to me for tire advice....

Coworker has a Focus (2006). Wants sporty tires. Also wants them on her budget. She did some research, and she likes the Traction TAs, and the Cooper Response(only carried at Sears)

I've seen these Coopers myself, and they fit between the CS4 and the Lifeliners. So I think they could be as good as the TAs.

To me, it's a toss up. What say you, bitog?

I like em' both.....what should I tell the nice lady?

I'm thinkin that both are comparable tires. how about price? since ur in MI, you should have a Discount Tire nearby. check their price on their website - but not the normal website: www.discounttiredirect.com the tires are cheaper there, and the store should match that price. then apply the $70 rebate for a set of four BFg's and see where its at!

Well, comes with the territory. Once anyone finds out that automotive is a hobby or profession of yours you are stuck with trying to answer questions you might know nothing about.

Traction t/a gets my vote, it does however come in two speed ratings and she'll only need the lower one, but if there's only a couple bucks difference why not get the v speed rated tire.

So true...

Traction T/A H-rated tires really transformed my girlfriend's '97 Escort. In addition to great traction in wet and dry, the improved steering response and feel made the car much more enjoyable to drive.

They are not the best high performance tires but for the price they make a great compliment to an inexpensive car that can use a little improved handling.

Got the T/A's with the $70 rebate (same as the current) from Discount Tire this summer. Early, but so far so good.

Nothing against the Coopers because I don't know squat about them or the cost. But given the choice between Discount Tire or DT Direct, and Sears....Not even close, IMO!

BFG T/A's + DT/DTD + $70 rebate....FTW!

both are good tires.. in this case I'd go BFG, but either one would be ok.

there is also a 40$ rebate on the coopers

the response series is just over the lifeliner's

the bfg traction TA is a very nice tire.

So if the tires are a toss up, and I don't know that they are, what's next?

Cost, have you priced them out, including installation, lifetime balance and rotation, prorated roadhazard, etc?

Service after the sale? Not sure if Discount Tire T/A's is the choice vs Sears, if so, you already know my opinion on that matter.

Otherwise, I'd say someone wants the Coopers.

Just bought Traction T/A's for the Taurus. 215/60-16

4 of them for 420.36 out the door minus the $70 rebate......$350.36 from Discount Tire.
