After 5 years since last using GC, I am now using it again and buildind a stash. I had been using PP in my previous vehicle and Mobil 1 0w40 in my current. I recently tried PU 5w40 and noticed more noise, so I started looking at what was on sale and noticed GC with a K&N filter for $30. I have to say that so far I am very happy. With it on sale with the K&N I couldn't resist the gold! I'm developing a temptation to build another stash. What is it with GC that makes us do this???

GC is an excellent oil. That's why

Proven oil. Stick with what works. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Until I see something for $6/qt that can beat it, I'll stay with it for my cars.

I am a big GC fan, but I must admit.....the $4 a quart M1 0w40 on Black Friday has caused me to stray. Now I have 24 quarts to go through....of M1.....before I go back to GC. ....which I will most certainly do, unless I can find other VW502 oil for dirt cheap.

I bought GC on sale for $6.39 a couple of months ago (usually $9.99 here). But for 5 quarts and once yearly oil changes I figure even at $10 a quart that's only less than $20 more than Mobil, once a year. Even if you change twice in 3 years, even at regular price, that's not a deal breaker. And, if you keep your eyes open, it goes on sale a couple of times a year.

I dont understand why people would cheapen on oil for there car. I spend over $400 bucks a year on the good oil and keep my oil changes at 2500 miles.

The $4.99 M1 deal right now is equally as tempting. It's great that we live in a time with so many great choices...my father grew up having a lot of [censored] oils to pick from for his Mustang.

Cheapen??? GC and Mobil 1 0w40 are the two best oils that are readily available.

I would never ever base a purchase over a few dollars I would stick to my true and trusted oil selection. And I would rather put Redline or Motul in my car anyday of the week over those two. But again a additional $25 bucks to me is chump change and no I am not rich. And to Clarify my position I am not saying either of those oils are cheap oils. I just cant understand why you would change from Mobil one to GC or vise versa over a few dollars in savings,

Because they give nearly identical results. I will use whichever is on sale. You can use Motul or Redline, but unless you're racing I doubt you will see the advantage.

I wouldn't mind spending the extra $$$ for a premium oil if I had 25k to put in an engine. ;-)

Not wanting to start an off-topic oil debate here, but one could ask the question...."What makes you consider Motul and/or Redline" to be any "better" than Mobil 1 0W-40 or GC 0W-30? Is that determination based on some series of UOA on your car's specific model's motor?

Just curious....
